(DK) CityJet seeks a Chief Pilot

Purpose of the position: The Chief Pilot

The Chief Pilot (CP) is responsible for the effective leadership and management of all flight crew ensuring that the highest levels of safety, regulatory compliance and operational efficiency are achieved and maintained throughout the CityJet network.

The Chief Pilot devises the appropriate operating standards and procedures, in conjunction with the relevant stakeholders. These are implemented and monitored by the relevant Fleet Captain.

The Chief Pilot (CP) holds a valid flight crew license and the associated ratings appropriate to a type of operation conducted under the AOC.

The CP reports directly to the Director of Flight Operations (DFO). And deputises for the DFO for all Nominated Person responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

The CP on behalf of DFO :

  • Is responsible for all flight and cabin crew operating standards and procedures
  • Decides the appointment, promotion and dismissal of all pilots
  • Is responsible for the content and management of the Company Operations Manual listed below
    • Part A
    • Type Specific Part B(s)
    • Safety and Emergency Procedures (SEP)
    • Part C
  • Has the authority to ensure the policies and procedures defined in the Operations Manual Part A are followed and take corrective action if necessary to ensure compliance
  • Designs and implement programs to improve operational standards across all fleets
  • Together with the Head of Training, establishes the appropriate level of training for Flight Crew
  • Manages the day to day relationship with the Competent Authority including any submissions required for approval by the IAA
  • Together with the Director of Flight Operations implements agreed corrective action plan where non-conformities are identified within his area of responsibility
  • Is responsible for the approval of all required aircraft performance data prior to its publication
  • Works closely with the Technical Services Department and the aircraft manufacturer(s) and be responsible for the drafting of the company Minimum
  • Equipment lists (MELs) for acceptance and submission by the DFO
  • Manages the CityJet Flight Data Monitoring processes
  • Maintains the standard of discipline of all operating crew
  • Liaises with the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) or other National Authorities on operational matters.
  • Coordinates the training and technical requirements between aircraft fleets taking into consideration any Operators Suitability Document
  • Liaises with CityJet bases to ensure effective communication and standards of operations
  • Defines any necessary flight techniques and procedures
  • Designates the identity of Aircraft Commanders
  • Approves listings and categorization of authorised airfields, in accordance with the requirements of this Manual, with the Technical Operations team
  • Keeps abreast of the latest statutory, operational, technical and safety developments
  • Attends such industry conferences/meetings as required to maintain their professional currency and development
  • Remains current on a CityJet aircraft type and operate as an aircraft commander
  • Chairs the Command Board
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the DFO

Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • Must hold an ATPL
  • Hold a valid flight crew license and the current rating for the CL65 (if the rating is not current, previous experience on the CL65 will be considered)
  • Total 5000 flying hours with a minimum of 1000 hours pilot in command on multi crew aircraft
