(GL) Air Greenland is seeking an AOC Ground Operations Manager

Would you like to take the lead on governance and safety within Air Greenland’s ground operations?

Air Greenland is seeking an AOC Ground Operations Manager, who will also serve as Nominated Person Ground Operations (NPGO). You will play a key role in ensuring that ground and cargo-related activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Air Greenland’s AOC, applicable regulatory requirements, the company’s management system, and relevant IOSA standards.

Your responsibilities will include establishing requirements, ensuring robust processes, and conducting risk-based oversight of ground handling and cargo operations across the network and at external service providers. The position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer/Accountable Manager.

Your key responsibilities

  • Fulfil the responsibilities of NPGO towards the Accountable Manager and the competent authority, ensuring continued compliance within ground operations.
  • Ensure that ground and cargo activities are carried out in accordance with applicable legislation, the Ground Operations Manual (GOM), and Air Greenland’s management system.
  • Own and maintain the GOM and ensure the timely assessment, implementation, and communication of regulatory, operational, and organisational changes.
  • Establish and maintain operational standards for passenger handling, baggage, ramp operations, load control, aircraft turnaround, de-/anti-icing, fuelling, and cargo, where applicable.
  • Ensure the effective management of safety and security risks within ground and cargo operations, including hazard identification, risk assessment, safety reporting, trend analysis, and follow-up on corrective actions.
  • Ensure that training and competency requirements are defined, implemented, and verified for relevant internal employees and external handling agents.
  • Fulfil Safety Action Group responsibilities and actively participate in the Safety Review Board, providing a sound basis for decision-making and escalating significant risks to the Accountable Manager.
  • Support regulatory oversight, IOSA audits, and internal audits, and ensure that findings are addressed in a timely and effective manner.
  • Represent Air Greenland in relevant regulatory and industry forums and build and maintain strong relationships with the Danish Civil Aviation and Railway Authority, IATA, airport operators, ground handling and cargo service providers, and other strategic partners within Ground and Cargo Operations.

About you

We expect you to:

  • Have documented experience from airline ground operations, station operations, ground handling, cargo operations, or a comparable operational aviation environment.
  • Be able to translate regulatory and operational requirements into clear manuals, processes, contractual requirements, and measurable controls.
  • Possess strong communication and collaboration skills, as well as composure and sound judgement when making operational decisions.
  • Have a solid understanding of an AOC environment, management systems, safety risk management, and compliance monitoring.
  • Have professional proficiency in English as well as good Danish or Greenlandic language skills.
  • Meet the requirements for acceptance by the Danish Civil Aviation and Railway Authority as Nominated Person for Ground Operations.

Knowledge of EASA Air OPS and IOSA, particularly requirements relating to Ground Handling Operations (GRH) and Cargo Operations (CGO), as well as regulatory oversight processes, would be a significant advantage.
