(GL) Air Greenland seeks a Safety Manager

Would you like to help shape the direction of safety in one of the most complex aviation organizations in the world?

We are looking for an experienced Safety Manager who can further develop our Safety Management System and strengthen the safety culture across the organization.

You will play a central role as an adviser to the Chief Operating Officer/Accountable Manager and work closely with management, operational and technical functions, authorities, and external partners. The position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer/Accountable Manager.

Your key responsibilities

  • Build and develop a robust and competent safety department.
  • Develop, improve, and maintain our overall Safety Management System and associated processes to support the Accountable Manager in Air Greenland’s overall safety efforts.
  • Facilitate proactive risk management across the operation, and monitor and advise Nominated Persons on risk mitigation in both day-to-day operations and major changes.
  • Promote an open reporting culture based on Just Culture, a strong feedback culture, and organizational learning.
  • Coordinate and conduct internal investigations with focus on learning and prevention.
  • Analyse safety data and report significant risks and trends to the Accountable Manager and recommend internal restrictions or other safety-related measures when deemed necessary.
  • Support the Safety Review Board and Safety Action Group in monitoring safety performance developing relevant SPIs, including recommendations on focus and priorities.
  • Coordinate and develop the company’s Emergency Response Program.
  • Monitor the company’s Flight Data Monitoring program and improve its effectiveness, integrity, and use of data to maintain a high level of safety while ensuring data confidentiality and independence.

About you

We expect you to:

  • Have solid experience with Safety Management Systems, risk management, management of change, and investigations
  • Have documented experience as a Safety Manager and within safety leadership
  • Have strong analytical and communication skills
  • Demonstrate high integrity, personal impact, and professional credibility
  • Approach your work and colleagues with curiosity and both personal and professional respect
  • Have a relevant educational background or equivalent professional experience
  • Have excellent English skills and preferably be proficient in Danish or Greenlandic

Experience from a complex AOC organization, in-depth knowledge of relevant EASA regulations and knowledge of the IOSA and BARS standards are considered significant advantages.
